A retrofit assessment is a detailed inspection of a property to identify ways to improve its energy efficiency, safety, and overall performance.
The assessor will talk with the homeowner about their plans for the property and any constraints.
The assessor will inspect the inside and outside of the property, including the roof, doors, windows, walls, and heating system.
The assessor may use a blower door test to identify drafts, or an infrared camera to observe heat loss.
The assessor may use modelling software to approximate energy conservation.
If the property is traditional, the assessor may conduct a significance survey to evaluate its historical, architectural, and cultural significance. The assessment will help the homeowner understand the most suitable improvements for their property, and may include Home Energy Plan with recommended improvements and costs.
